AusMumpreneur Gold Award - Product Design

Recognised for thoughtful outdoor design

Minimuds founder Kim Lancaster was awarded the Gold Product Design Award at the 2021 AusMumpreneur Awards, recognising the thoughtful design behind the Minimuds waterproof outerwear range.

The AusMumpreneur Awards celebrate Australian mothers in business who are creating innovative products, building strong communities and inspiring others through entrepreneurship.

For Kim, the award was both exciting and humbling.

After years of developing practical outdoor clothing for children, the recognition affirmed the core goal behind Minimuds: creating gear that helps kids and families spend more time outdoors, comfortably and confidently.

Designed for real outdoor childhoods

Minimuds was born in the alpine region of North East Victoria, where unpredictable weather and adventurous kids demand clothing that truly performs.

The waterproof outerwear range was designed to help children explore freely in all weather, with practical features that make outdoor play easier for families:

• fully waterproof and seam-sealed protection
• durable fabrics made for muddy adventures
• comfortable designs that move with active kids
• practical details that make dressing quick and easy

The aim has always been simple - create outdoor gear that allows families to embrace nature without worrying about the weather.

A journey shaped by community

Kim describes the recognition as a reminder of the incredible support that has surrounded the brand from the beginning.

The encouragement of local families, fellow parents and the wider outdoor community has played a huge role in helping Minimuds grow into what it is today.

As Kim shared in the interview:

"The outpouring of local encouragement and congratulations has been phenomenal. My community is pretty darn wonderful."

Supporting outdoor family life

Today, Minimuds continues to focus on designing practical outdoor gear that supports family adventures from muddy puddles and rainy walks to mountain trails and everyday exploration.

Because childhood belongs outdoors.
